The art of depth and structure: my painting technique for oil paintings
In the world of painting, there are countless techniques for bringing emotion, depth and texture to the canvas. As an artist, I prefer to work with oil paints as they offer unique opportunities to create vivid and expressive surfaces layer by layer. In this article, I would like to give you an insight into my special painting technique.
Shift work and texture
A central aspect of my work is the construction of layers. At the beginning, I often create a rough underpainting that serves as the basis for the painting. This first layer gives me the freedom to explore colors and shapes. After drying, I apply further layers to develop details and structures. I use not only brushes, but also palette knives and sponges.
Texture plays an essential role in my works. The targeted application of thicker layers of paint or the use of textured pastes creates three-dimensional surfaces that give the picture a special feel. This technique directs the viewer’s gaze and creates a fascinating depth effect.
Play of color and light
Colors are the soul of every painting. In my work, I often combine muted tones with bright accents to create an exciting contrast between calm and dynamism. The interplay of light and shadow is crucial here. By mixing the colors directly on the canvas, I create gentle transitions and unique shades.
The slow drying of the oil paints allows me to work on colors over a longer period of time, to blend them or add new layers without losing the underlying layers. This creates a lively dialog between the individual layers of paint.
Abstract elements and symbols
Many of my paintings combine realistic motifs with abstract forms. This combination allows me to unite classical themes such as Buddha or deer with modern, abstract art. I also like to work with fine lines and symbols that give the painting a deeper meaning and make the viewer think.
Conclusion
Each of my paintings tells a story that is created layer by layer on the canvas. The combination of structure, color and symbolism allows me to create works that find a balance between calm and movement, tradition and modernity. With my oil paintings, I want to inspire people and give them moments of reflection and inner peace.
